This was possibly one of the happiest moments of Sophie’s short little life. Right after this picture was taken she managed to get her arms around both necks and hug two goats at once!
Here are some fun facts about Sophie and her love of goats -
I really don’t know what caused Sophie to be so very fond of goats, I don’t remember exactly when the obsession started but I think it was around a year old.
Sophie first pet and brushed goats (and sheep!) when we went to the zoo in Grand Rapids, MI on vacation with my brother and his wife. She was 15 months old.
Sophie was obsessed with the video jake made of her petting the goats and sheep at the zoo and watched it many times a day, demanding we skip to the part with the goat immediately each time she did.
If you ask Sophie her favorite animal she will always say goat.
If you ask Sophie what animal she is she will always say goat.
If you sing “Old MacDonald had a farm..and on the farm he had a…” nine times out of ten the first animal she says will be goat.
She has a very impressive range of goat noises, ranging from a small shy little goat “baaa” to a LOUD CRAZY AGGRESSIVE goat “BLEEEEEEHHHHH”
Her Uncle gave her a toy goat (that she loves of course) and now whenever she sees his picture or hears his name she says “goat?”
Her Great Grandma Nancy had a tiny white ceramic nativity scene out for Christmas and Sophie some how spotted the goat the MOMENT she walked in to my Grandma’s apartment. It was love at first sight. She carried the little ceramic goat around for EVER, talking to it, feeding it, hugging it, etc. so of course my Grandma gave it to her. She still plays with it all the time and even packs it in her backpack to take over to Nana’s house with her toys. I keep trying to put it up on a shelf so it doesn’t break but she always spots it before long.
She knows a mama goat is called a nanny goat and a baby goat is called a kid.
